A must for anybody who has been a fan of the album

This was a good show! On the heavier side given that central themes were sexual assault and opiate addiction. But there were some really humorous bits also. Lead vocal was excellent, and the actor who sang "You Oughta Know" did a great job. I kind of expected some of the other supporting voices to be a little stronger for a national tour, but they did seem to improve as the show went on. I feel like in part the issue lies with the sound system at The Paramount. Some of the arrangements of the songs are fairly different from the album, and it was interesting to hear the unique new spins. I definitely recommend the show for anybody who has been a fan of Alanis and/or the Jagged Little Pill album!

So Easy To Swallow

I believe this is the first of it's kind--to take a popular cd from a popular artist and build a musical around it. And Alanis was a great choice for the first of it. They had a well developed storyline, with one family leading the way--but also giving side characters (aka the friends of the family) a chance to shine. My favs were the lady that played the mom and the guy that played Phoenix. both had great voices! I took my Mum to the show and she just loved how the actors were in charge of scene changes and moving the props around. It made the whole thing more fluid. As for the music, some of the songs I knew. Some I didn't. But my fav Alanis song from JLP is "You Learn" followed closely by "Right Through You". After the show, I began wondering what other Cd/artist could be turned into a musical. Perhaps Tori Amos could have a crack at it? or maybe one by Janet Jackson? or maybe a Baby One More Time musical (britney spears)?
